6th September, 2007. The Reinforcing Strap - Part 1

To bolster the joints where the fuselage sections have been seperated, an alloy strap some 12" wide is to be rivetted right around the fuselage joint.

This is a tedious job... many rivets need to be drilled out, the strap sections trimmed to fit, drilled - and then the joints (with strap) rivetted throughout.

The alloy sheet is taped in place while we drill a locating hole from inside.

Skin-pins are used to hold it in place while we drill through all the holes.

Lots and lots of skin pins hold the strap in place, the window is roughly cut out, and tomorrow... we can rivet it all up!
