22nd July, 2007. Work on the sub-floor.

Where the front fuse joins the centre wing section, the sub-floor support beams had all been drilled out. This left us with the onerous task of popping out all the remaining half-rivets with pin-punches, re-rivetting the support beams back in place - and then fabricting an aluminium sheet to act as a new sub-floor. This seemed like a good job for today since it did nothing but rain all day.

A very wet Jon Howard fitting tucker-pops aided by a much drier Bill Turnbull.

The sub-floor support beams now cover the gap between the front and wing sections. The heavily rivetted section at the bottom of the photograph is the top of the enormous torque tube which forms the centre of the wing section.

The wooden partition shown in the photo above closed in the rear of the front fuselage section. It was decided while the sub-floor was being put in to move this partition back to the rear of the centre wing section to give us more room inside the aircraft.

Bill Turnbull, Terry Parker and Ted Seaborne removing the partition from the front fuse section which has kept Charlie Fox secure for so many years.

The partition re-installed at the rear of the centre wing section gives us a lot more room to work in.
